Gwynedd boasts fantastic panoramic views of the whole county from Snowden one of Britain’s highest mountains. Snowden allows the specialist climber or casual walker to scale its crags and knolls. For the more sedate there is a ride up using the mountain railway.
Gwynedd is an area of contrast the rugged mountains roll down to an array of beaches. The Llyn peninsula is more secluded and boasts the whistling sands a magnificent stretch of beach that gets its name from the sound made by people’s feet gliding through the sand.
Bangor is the biggest urban area and gateway to Anglesey across the Menai bridge. The many other seaside towns, especially along the north coast thrive on tourism with a myriad of shops.
Wales is steeped in history. The Normans in the 12th century built a series of castles that spread along the whole north coast. They are preserved today by the National trust. The castles provide fantastic views across the coast an out across the ocean. They also tell of a time when the English subjugated the locals lead by Owain Glendwr.
