Ravenglass

  • Description

Our Club Site at Ravenglass was once part of the Muncaster Estate. Set in five acres of mature woodland, it lies on the outskirts of the pretty fishing village which shares its name, in the Lake District National Park.

The area is a walkers paradise on Cumbrias western coast. The fishing village of Ravenglass has a Post Office, craft shop, pubs and a natural harbour. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Laal Ratty is a narrow gauge railway running up to 16 trains a day.

Muncaster Castle is a great family day out. It has an Owl Conservation Centre, many works of art and antiques and is home to the Pennington family. A Roman bathhouse is 500m from the Site entrance. Wastwater, the deepest lake in the Lake District, is particularly peaceful. It can only be reached from the west.

Sellafield Visitor Centre tells the story of the power station and includes science workshops and many hands-on exhibits.
