Denbighshire is a traditional maritime county located in north east Wales and it is well-known for being the oldest populated part of the country. With a population of just under 100,000, the county’s main towns are Ruthin, Denbigh, Abergele, Llangollen, Mochdre, Wrexham, Kinmel Bay, Llanrwst and Colwyn Bay.
If you’re a history buff, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that there are quite a few beautiful ancient buildings located in the area: Bodelwyddan Castle, Valle Crucis Abbey, Rhuddlan Castle, Plas Newydd Museum. For those who happen to be fans of classic cars, the Llangollen Motor Museum is more than happy to welcome your visit.
Ruthin is a town rich in historical architecture such as the 14th Century Parish Church of St Peter, the 15th Century Old Court House and a Victorian clock tower. The main tourist attractions in Denbigh are: 13th century Denbigh Castle, Burgess Gate, Leicester’s Church and more.
There are many exciting activities and events that you can be a part of in Llangollen: May Day Bank Holiday festival, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, canal boat horse rides on the Llangollen Canal. This little town’s main attraction is the Llangollen Railway Station where you’ll be able to admire classic steam locomotives.
Rhyl is a place that is swarmed by tourists because of miles of beautiful sandy beached where people can sunbathe, relax, and take it all in. The town also has a live theatre and a cinema. Every year you can watch the British pilots in action during the Rhyl’s annual Air Show.
