The Lleyn Peninsula is home to our Club Site at Llanystumdwy (pronounced clan-ee-stum-wee). On the southern shore of North West Wales, it is ideally placed for the Peninsula and Snowdonia.
The village of Llanystumdwy is a ten-minute walk away. It has a couple of places serving meals. Criccieth Castle castle is still dominated by its mediaeval, twintowered gatehouse. Lloyd George the flamboyant politician grew up in the area.
A museum, his boyhood home and riverside grave can all be visited. Pwllheli is a train ride up the coast. It has an open air market every Wednesday, a leisure centre and Hafan Pwllheli one of Britains finest marinas and sailing centres.
Afonwen Working Farm and Pony Trekking Centre and Dwyfor Rabbit Farm are good places to visit if travelling with children. The Italianate village of Portmerion is to the east. Pennarth Fawr is a mediaeval house with a superb carved interior. The Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway are both in the seaport of Porthmadog.
Caernarfon is dominated by its mediaeval fortress. Buy a weeks ticket for the buses and trains and explore North Wales. The Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth makes a good day trip from Site.
