The walking country of the Lake District is right outside our Kendal Club Site. Also perfect for exploring the coast or the Pennines, it is readily accessible from the M6 and has lovely fell views.
Kendal town is a couple of miles from the Site. It has a good selection of restaurants, supermarkets and factory retail outlets. It is also home to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life and the Kendal Museum. In May the town hosts a mediaeval market and in September, a Torchlight Procession. Windermere is the closest lake to Site. The Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockholme is on its shore. Lake cruises start at Bowness or Ambleside. There is also a ferry across the lake. The Steamboat Museum runs steamboat trips and has an Arthur Ransome exhibition. Travel across the Pennines to Garrigill for llama trekking. Hire bikes at Windermere station to follow one of the many cycle trails.
The new Walney to Wear (W2W) 160-mile National Cycle route passes this Club Site. Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway connects with Windermere Lake Cruises at Bowness. Grizedale Forest Park has walking trails, orienteering courses and Go Ape a High Ropes Adventure. Buy a range of paper from The Paper Mill Shop at the James Cropper paper factory.
