For many, the pass of Leny, North of Callander is the start of the highlands. Loch Lubnaig, lying crooked below the crags, is the first Highland Loch, therefore the first village in the highlands is Strathyre. The unspoiled village of Strathyre lies on the Balvaig River nesting between Ben Vorlich and Ben Sheann at the head of Loch Lubnaig.
