Chertsey is a beautiful, riverside Site, south west of the City of London, which was fully refurbished for 2004. A train ride away from the capital, it retains its rural atmosphere, with daily visits from foxes, squirrels and a host of river birds. Campers from many countries stay at Chertsey.
One attraction of this Site is its proximity to London. Park at Weybridge station and be in the City in about half-an-hour. Closer to the Site you will find three famous theme parks, for the young and young-at-heart. Thorpe Park is in Chertsey, and Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland are a drive away. The official residence of Her Majesty the Queen is just down the road. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. For garden lovers there are Kew, Wisley and Saville Gardens to explore all year round. There are several annual events in the area, like the Chelsea Flower Show in the spring and Royal Ascot in June. Chertsey has all the facilities you will need supermarkets, shops and a cosmopolitan mix of restaurants and take-aways.
The National Trust estate at Cliveden is set high on cliffs above the River Thames. The Chertsey Museum has lively displays on the history of Runnymede, historic fashion exhibitions and a new, hands-on Discovery Zone. The more energetic can take advantage of a health club and its swimming pool at Chertsey or take a short drive to Bracknell and the adventure water world of Coral Reef. Go Ape! is a high wire forest adventure, where you can swing from tree to tree high above the forest floor. There is a pleasant, traffic-free walk along the Thames towpath to Staines about four miles away
