The lovely village of Boscastle, tragically famous because of the floods of 2004, is five miles away. Join the South West Coast Path Britains longest National Trail and walk to the beach at Crackington Haven or Tintagel. King Arthurs legendary home of Tintagel Castle is now managed by English Heritage. Follow in the Kings footsteps to King Arthurs Stone and final battlefield using the Discovery Trial.
Sea fishing trips run from Boscastle. Catch mackerel, trace wrecks or search for sharks from the harbour. Bude town is nine miles north. The clifftops here form one of the most spectacular sections of the South West Coast Way. The Bude Canal has flat tow-path walks, marshes and thriving wetlands. It is great for birdwatchers, walkers and cyclists. Cyclists can also enjoy the Camel Trail, which follows a disused railway along the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Bodmin Moor in the rugged heart of Cornwall. Local beaches include Widemouth Bay with its splendid expanse of sand. Bude Jazz Festival is one of the UKs leading festivals. Book early if you want to stay during the event.
